As a registered Patent and Trademark Attorney in Japan since 1994 (Reg. no. 10654), Mr. Nobukazu Ito has extensive professional experience as an Intellectual Property Counsel for both Japanese and global companies. Mr Ito has prepared and prosecuted many hundreds of patent applications in various technologies. His technical expertise includes (but not limited to) mechanical engineering, crystallography, medical devices, light optics, computer software, nuclear engineering, medical engineering and electronics.
While working as an Intellectual Property Counsel in a global corporation, he has developed wide range of experiences in the licensing arrangements, intellectual property strategic planning and infringement analysis. In 2006, he participated the Center for Advanced Study & Research on Intellectual Property (CASRIP), an internationally recognized intellectual property institution for IP professionals, hosted by the University of Washington School of Law. Since 2006, Mr. Ito is named as an expert advisor of the Intellectual Property Right Border Enforcement (Article 22, custom tariff Act), and has offered formal opinions to the Customs and Tariff Bureau, Ministry of Finance. He is also an advisory member of the Japan Institute of Invention and Innovation (JIII) since 2006. Throughout his career, he has appeared as a guest lecturer for training seminars for organizations such as WIPO and JICA. As an active teacher, he is an adjunct professor for Toyo University in Saitama, Japan since 2014. He was formerly an adjunct professor of the Beijing Foreign Studies University in China between 2000 and 2006.
